TOWN OF COTTESLOE APPOINTS MARK NEWMAN AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Town is pleased to advise that Mr Mark Newman will commence as Cottesloe’s new Chief Executive Officer on 28 April 2025.
Current CEO Matthew Scott advised Council in October last year that he would not seek an extension of his term, which was due to expire in July this year. By agreement between the Town and Mr Scott, Mr Scott’s employment will end on 27 April.
Town of Cottesloe Mayor Lorraine Young said, “I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Mr Scott for his hard work on behalf of the Cottesloe community and to thank him for his commitment to a smooth transition to new leadership.”
Council started the search for a new CEO early this year. Over 60 applications were received and a shortlist of five high calibre candidates were interviewed. The selection of Mr Newman was endorsed unanimously by Council’s Recruitment Committee, and then by Council at a Special Council meeting held on Friday evening.
“Mr Newman is an outstanding local government CEO, with a long and distinguished career including serving as CEO to the City of Mandurah for over 20 years,” Mayor Young said.
“He has a strong strategic, governance and financial focus and a track record for successfully delivering major infrastructure projects.
“He has the extensive local government knowledge and experience to guide the Town to ensure that we deliver services at the high level our community expects, and his strategic focus and business acumen will enable the Town to drive forward on some of our major projects.
“We look forward to working with Mark for the benefit of our community,” Mayor Young added.
Town of Cottesloe CEO Matthew Scott said, “I am delighted to congratulate Mark on his appointment and have every confidence that he will provide strong leadership and fresh perspectives for Cottesloe − I look forward to seeing the Town continue to flourish under his guidance.
“Serving in this role since 2020 has been a true privilege, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated Council, staff, and community to drive progress.
“I sincerely appreciate the support I have received throughout my tenure as CEO and extend my best wishes to Cottesloe for continued success in the years ahead.”
