Coastal Monitoring
Since 2014/2015, the Town has carried out a Coastal Monitoring Program to gather data on the coastal changes and establish potential trends in erosion and accretion.
The program involves:
- Shoreline surveys undertaken approximately every 6 months, spread along the span of the Town’s shoreline.
- Visual monitoring taken by remote cameras installed at three locations along the coast. Images are taken at one hour intervals.
- Summary reports are produced using the data collected, which help to inform any future action required.
The Town has received Coastal Adaptation and Protection (CAP) Grants from the Department of Transport for this project.
