Private Swimming Pools and Spas

Important Information for Pool Owners

Please be advised that all known private swimming pool and spa barriers within the Town of Cottesloe will be inspected to ensure the barrier is compliant every four years, as per the requirements of the Building Regulations 2012. 

To book a pool barrier inspection, please contact the Building and Compliance Officer on 9285 5000 or via email to town@cottesloe.wa.gov.au.

Should there be no attempt by homeowners to rectify any non-compliant matters identified during the inspections, an infringement notice of up to $5000 may be issued. A Building Order under the Building Act 2011 may also be issued for non-compliant barriers.

Removal of Swimming Pools and Spas

When a swimming pool and/or spa is no longer wanted it should be totally removed from the site either by deflating, dismantling, excavating and lifting out, or complete demolition.

Owners should complete and submit the below notification form when decommissioning a pool or spa. An inspection by the Town's Building and Compliance officer is also required to confirm the pool is adequately decommissioned and/or removed.
