"There are 72 original plant species that still survive here in Cottesloe. These local native plants are adapted to our local soils and climate and provide habitat for the wildlife that has evolved with them. Plants are the food of many local insects, which in turn support birds, lizards, bats and frogs."

 Coastcare formed in 1995 and is supported by the Town in their work to protect and rehabilitate the fragile coastal areas to:

  • protect local flora and fauna biodiversity
  • improve environmental resilience
  • enhance the aesthetic value of the coast for residents and visitors
  • create a sense of place, education & recreation for all to use
