Resignation of Town of Cottesloe Deputy Mayor, Helen Sadler

The Town of Cottesloe has received the resignation of Deputy Mayor, Helen Sadler. Cr Sadler has made the decision to step aside as Deputy Mayor, with effect from the October Council Meeting next week.

Cr Sadler will continue to serve the community as a Councillor, and Council will elect a new Deputy Mayor as the first item of business at the October meeting.

Cr Sadler cited her increasing commitments outside of Council and her wish to spend more time with her spouse, as he reduces his own work demands, for making the decision to resign.

“The Deputy Mayor role does require a significant time commitment and the capacity to be available to act as Mayor when required,” Cr Sadler said.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the role and the ongoing supportive relationship that I have with Mayor Lorraine Young.“

"I remain extremely committed to my role as an Elected Member, which is more manageable for me going forward, and I look forward to continuing to work with my fellow Elected Members on behalf of the Cottesloe community.”

Town of Cottesloe Mayor Lorraine Young thanked Cr Sadler for her service, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Cr Sadler for her hard work on behalf of the community.“

"She has brought intelligence, integrity and humour to the Deputy Mayor role, and has played an important part in setting the culture of Council and ensuring that we function as a cohesive group of individuals working respectfully together, for the benefit of the community.”
