General Waste Bin

All Cottesloe residents are provided with a 120L General Waste Bin with a red lid. Your General Waste Bin will be emptied FORTNIGHTLY on your designated collection day.  In effect, most residents will only have two bins out for collection every week.  Please refer to the Town's Waste and Recycling calendar for your bin servicing days.

What can go in the General Waste Bin?

  • Polystyrene, foam packaging and bubble wrap
  • Disposable Nappies and hygiene products
  • Small items that can't go in the Recycle or FOGO Bin
  • Disposable coffee cups
  • Foil lined drink cartons
  • Old clothing and textiles that cannot be donated
  • Soft and flexible plastic. 

What must NOT be placed in the General Waste Bin?

  • Chemicals, oil, paint, hazardous substances.
  • Batteries, phones, e-waste, light globes.
  • Building materials.
  • Anything that can go in the recycle bin.
  • Anything that can go in the FOGO bin.

To facilitate the smooth operation of this service, residents are asked to:

  • Ensure the lid closes and the bin weighs less than 50kg
  • Clean the bin regularly
  • Store the bin in a shaded area.

Place your bins on the verge front facing the street by 6:00am on your collection day and return to within your property on the same day. Allow 0.5m between bins and 1m from overhanging trees or cars.
